Source: Ryan Byrne/INPHOFAI CHIEF EXECUTIVE John Delaney has been voted onto the Uefa’s Executive Committee.The ExCo election took place at the 41st Ordinary Uefa Congress in Helsinki today, with 11 candidates hoping to earn one of the eight available seats after it was announced just before the start that Kairat Boranbayev of Kazakhstan had withdrawn his bid.Cyprus’ Marios Lefkaritis pulled out of the original 13-strong list last month.Having received the second-highest number of votes (48),  Delaney will sit on the committee for a four-year term along with Zbigniew Boniek (Poland), David Gill (England), Reinhard Grindel (Germany), Karl-Erik Nilsson (Sweden), Michele Uva (Italy), Michael van Praag (Netherlands) and Servet Yardımcı (Turkey.)As reported by The Sunday Times, he stands to earn an additional €100,000 annually on top of his current €360,000 salary as well as an allowance of €300 per diem.The 49-year-old becomes the second Irishman to hold the position after Des Casey in the 1990s.During today’s Congress, Uefa president Aleksander Ceferin also announced that each of the 55 member nations  – including the FAI — will receive an extra ‘solidarity payment’ of €1m.The news comes a day after the Ireland women’s national team held a press conference in Dublin to air their grievances at the current conditions while on international duty.The42 is on Instagram!
