Targus USB 30 adaptor lets your laptop use 3 displays

first_imgLaptops are great when you are on the go, but one of the compromises you make for portability is screen real estate. Even the largest laptops only sport an 18-inch display, and that comes at the price of extra weight. With the advent of Ultrabooks, the typical portable screen size we enjoy is between 13 and 15-inches.Toshiba came up with a novel solution to add a second display on the go with its USB-powered portable display. But that’s only 14-inches. If you want something bigger, then using the HDMI-out or VGA port on your laptop is your best option. Targus has presented another option though, that allows you to add not one, but two additional displays using just a single USB 3.0 port. It’s called the Targus USB 3.0 Dual Video Card and offers up both a DVI and HDMI port by using the DisplayLink DL-3900 adaptor. You connect the device to your laptop via USB 3.0, then plug in up to two additional screens using the ports on the box. Each connected display can have a resolution of up to 2048 x 1152.As the HDMI port can carry 6-channel sound, this also makes for a great solution when connecting your laptop to a large screen with surround sound for media playback. It also allows for a nice tri-screen work (or play) setup when you get home and can just plug your laptop into it. All you need is a laptop powerful enough to handle three screens. The Dual Video Adaptor weighs a little over 300 grams and measures 1.57 x 6.54 x 7.72-inches. It’s recommended retail price is $99.99, but that’s sure to get discounted when it hits online stores. More at Targus, via EverythingUSBlast_img read more
