Azure Power wins 100 MW solar in Indian solicitation

first_imgAzure Power wins 100 MW solar in Indian solicitationIndian solar power producer wins project for a 100 MW solar PV installation via auction held by India’s largest power generation company, NTPC. December 28, 2015 Ian Clover Installations Legal Markets Markets & Policy Share Azure Power, an Indian solar producer, has been awarded the right to build a 100 MW solar PV project in India at an auction held by Indian power generation company NTPC Limited.Held as part of India’s ambitious National Solar Mission, the NTPC auction had a total project capacity of 1 GW, with Azure Power securing a favorable rate of INR 5.12/kWh ($0.08/kWh) for the solar plant, which will be constructed in the state of Andhra Pradesh. This winning rate is 11% higher than the first two auctions priced in the same solar park, which were won by SunEdison and Japan’s SoftBank for a tariff of just INR 4.63/kWh ($0.07/kWh, but nevertheless represent a competitive strike price for India.Azure Power beat nine other companies to secure the 100 MW project. A total of 150 MW was auctioned off during the tender, which was announced exclusively for PV projects that will use domestic solar cells and modules made in India as part of the government-backed “Make in India” campaign.Popular content The Hydrogen Stream: 20 MW green hydrogen plant in Finland, two Australian projects move forward Sergio Matalucci 20 April 2021 pv-magazine.com Storegga, Shell and Harbour Energy want to set up a 20 MW blue hydrogen production facility in the U.K. Australia’s Origin Energy wants to build a hy… Enabling aluminum in batteries Mark Hutchins 27 April 2021 pv-magazine.com Scientists in South Korea and the UK demonstrated a new cathode material for an aluminum-ion battery, which achieved impressive results in both speci… ITRPV: Large formats are here to stay Mark Hutchins 29 April 2021 pv-magazine.com The 2021 edition of the International Technology Roadmap for Photovoltaics (ITRPV) was published today by German engineering association VDMA.
