Leaked LG Lucid 2 heading to Verizon on April 4th

first_imgLast year around this time, Verizon launched the mid-range LG Lucid. Now it looks like it’s time for the Lucid 2 to take its place. Based on information from sources, the upgraded Android handset will be arriving in Verizon Stores and Walmart locations in the U.S. on April 4th.The original sported a dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor clocked at 1.2GHz. The number of cores and clock speed remains the same this time around, but LG has updated the Lucid 2 to a Snapdragon S4 and Qualcomm’s newer MSM8960 chipset. LG has also replaced the 4-inch 480 x 800 display with a 4.3-inch AH-IPS display with a native resolution of 540 x 960 pixels. There’s a sharper 1.3MP front-facing camera on the Lucid 2, and LG is shipping a much beefier battery. Last year’s Lucid could squeeze an estimated 8 hours of talk time from its 1700mAh battery. The Lucid 2 boasts a 2460mAh Silicon Oxide battery that should just about triple that time. LG will also be providing an inductive charging backplate for the Lucid 2.What else has changed? The Lucid 2 can also handle microSD cards up to 64GB, and it won’t be saddled with Gingerbread. It’ll ship with Android 4.1.2 preinstalled. Jelly Bean would be nice, but 4.1 isn’t so bad for a phone that isn’t going to break the bank. And despite all the upgraded internals and the (slightly) larger display, LG has managed to shave a few ounces off the Lucid 2. It tips the scales at just over 4.5 ounces, half an ounce less than the Lucid — or half an ounce more than the iPhone 5 if you’re comparing to Apple’s flagship phone. All that remains up in the air at this point is the price. The current Lucid is available for free on a two-year deal, but the new model will command a steeper premium: $1.last_img read more
